Our Philosophy

The Humane Society of Tipton County is a “no-kill” shelter. Our purpose is to assist with animal control and care of stray, feral and abandoned cats; stray and abandoned dogs; and assist in locating lost dogs and cats within the county limits of Tipton County. To communicate to the public as well as assist and encourage compliance of all animal ordinances of the City of Tipton and Tipton County. To educate and communicate humane care and ownership responsibilities for all domesticated animals within Tipton County limits. To offer shelter and medical services of animals housed in the Tipton County Animal Shelter.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help control the pet population by actively spay and neutering, stop and prevent animal neglect and cruelty, provide a shelter for strays and lost pets, place homeless animals into loving homes, reunite lost and found animals with their proper owners, and educate the community about animal welfare. We strive to instill in our community the appreciation, care, and compassion for all animals, great and small.

If you need to report a lost or found dog within Tipton County limits, please call dispatch: (765) 675-2111

This year marks a significant milestone for our community as we open our first shelter. Having a building is a tremendous first step to keeping Tipton County cats and dogs that have lost their way safe. However, we do not have the staff or space to assist with owner-surrendered or at-risk animals from other communities and organizations. We will be regularly adding pet owner resources to this website.

We do have a Community Pantry to assist members of our community in keeping their beloved pets fed and safely at home. Please follow our Facebook page for announcements about the pantry schedule.

If you would like to help by becoming a volunteer, foster, or adopter, we would love to have you join the team! Please visit the Adopt or How to Help pages of this site for links to the appropriate application.

FAQ

I keep hearing about a shelter that will be opening soon. How can I help?

We are hard at work to open the first animal shelter in Tipton County history! There are several big-ticket items that we need to purchase to get there. If you can help, or know of someone who can, please share the following sponsorship information! 202305_SponsorshipCall

The sooner we have the building open, the sooner we can help provide a safe place for animals who are awaiting their forever home!

I want to surrender my pet. What can I do?

Due to the volume of stray animals requiring care in our community, we are unable to accept owner-surrendered pets.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, please follow our Facebook page for information about our pet food pantry and low-cost vaccination clinics.

Adopt-a-Pet offers resources regarding how to address common challenges with pets as well as a way to post an animal for adoption. Their website is: https://rehome.adoptapet.com/help-keep-pet

If there isn't currently an animal available that looks like a good fit, can I still submit an application to foster or adopt from HSTC?

Absolutely! Having foster and adoption applications in advance can help us when we are trying to determine how to help an animal in need! Please make notes in your application of any specifics about the animal you are hoping to help!

I don't currently have room for an animal in my household, but would like to help HSTC. What can I do?

Help can come in so many forms! In addition to providing a home, you can also help by donating time, resources, or money to help those in need. Please check out our How To Help page for more information!
