Our Philosophy

The Humane Society of Tipton County is a “no-kill” shelter. Our purpose is to assist with animal control and care of stray, feral and abandoned cats; stray and abandoned dogs; and assist in locating lost dogs and cats within the county limits of Tipton County. To communicate to the public as well as assist and encourage compliance of all animal ordinances of the City of Tipton and Tipton County. To educate and communicate humane care and ownership responsibilities for all domesticated animals within Tipton County limits. To offer shelter and medical services of animals housed in the Tipton County Animal Shelter.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help control the pet population by actively spay and neutering, stop and prevent animal neglect and cruelty, provide a shelter for strays and lost pets, place homeless animals into loving homes, reunite lost and found animals with their proper owners, and educate the community about animal welfare. We strive to instill in our community the appreciation, care, and compassion for all animals, great and small.

This year marks a significant milestone for our community as we open our first shelter. Having a building is a tremendous first step to keeping Tipton County cats and dogs that have lost their way safe. However, we do not have the staff or space to assist with owner-surrendered or at-risk animals from other communities and organizations. We will be regularly adding pet owner resources to this website.

We do have a Community Pantry to assist members of our community in keeping their beloved pets fed and safely at home. Please follow our Facebook page for announcements about the pantry schedule.

If you would like to help by becoming a volunteer, foster, or adopter, we would love to have you join the team! Please visit the Adopt or How to Help pages of this site for links to the appropriate application.

The sooner we have the building open, the sooner we can help provide a safe place for animals who are awaiting their forever home!
